Paracord bracelets, also known as 'survival bracelets', are made of the same thin nylon cord that is used to make parachute strings.  Paracord is lightweight and thin, but its durable and it has exceptional strength to weight ratio. Paracord was first used for parachutes back in the Second World War.  Paratroopers would often cut a length of the parachute string and wind it around their wrist to take with them because of how durable and useful the materials are during emergency situations. Paracord can be put to many uses, including building a shelter, using it as a snare, and even for emergency clothing repairs.
