Endmill metal watch band on Seiko 5 Sports SRPD53K1
It has been two year since the release of the New Seiko 5 Sports SRPD collection, and even to this day, it is still one of the hottest watch collection in the watch industry. As the predecessor of the legendary SKX007, the New Seiko 5 Sports “5KX” SRPD collection have certainly lived up to its name.
6 watch bands of the 4 models mentioned above, NO LONGER require 'curved spring bars'.

Comes with Dia. 2.5mm STRAIGHT spring bars
As much as we like to think of the resemblance between the 5KX and the SKX007, its fortunate that MOST of the modification parts for the SKX007/009, are compatible to be used on the new 5KX models. However, there are some modification parts that can not be used on the 5KX models as well.

We found that the crowns and fat spring bars are not compatible between the two watch models since the new Seiko 5 Sports do not have a screw down crown. For us especially, not being able to use fat spring bars on the new 5KX since the springbars that come with the Seiko 5 Sports/SRPD have slightly smaller tips compared to the OEM Seiko fat springbars. We also noticed that the location of the drill hole of the lugs between the two models are slightly different.

With that being said, we had to design a set of curved spring bars, specifically design for the 5KX models to fit with our existing curved end fitted bracelets for the SKX007.

Although the curved spring bars allow the bracelets to swap between the two watch models, with 5KX becoming more and more popular, it was only a matter of time before we designed and released curved fitted bracelets for the 5KX watch models.
Up until now, we have released a total of four curved end fitted bracelets for the New Seiko 5 Sports SRPD 22mm models.
To avoid any confusion or misunderstandings, the 6 bracelet models mentioned NO LONGER require 'curved spring bars'. Watch bands that needed the 'curved spring bars', were bracelets that were designed for the SKX007. By using ‘curved spring bars’, the New Seiko 5 Sports SPRD models were able to fit onto bracelets for the SKX007 models.

All in all, the Seiko SKX007 will remain a legend, whether it has been discontinued or not. Its not going to stop the growth and popular demand for the New Seiko 5 Sports line. Even though the New Seiko 5 Sports collection is not a direct replacement for the SKX007, some may complain about the drop in water resistance, lack of screw down crown, and missing lume pip in the bezel.
