It is interesting to note that Omega’s unveiling of their latest release was in two parts: A new watch, and a new innovation. Before now, they have been teasing a new technical device that is sure to make a difference in the industry, and that device was announced to be known as “Spirate”; a combination of the words, Spiral (silicon) and Rate.

This technology is an enhanced accuracy system that allows for ultra-fine rate adjustments to a precision of plus or minus 0.1 seconds per day, achieving a complete accuracy of 0/+2 seconds per day. This is achieved using a mechanism via the graduated tuner device attached to the balance bridge that allows watchmakers to adjust the stiffness of the spring in an articulated structure.

This innovative system is very much better than the former free-sprung balance mechanism. It has been tested, cased and METAS certified to achieve a precision rating of 0/+2 seconds per day. All this point out to the fact that this system will make a watch more accurate than any other.

Definitely, this powerful innovative system will be inculcated into the newer models of the company, and even in the watch industry at large. But first of all, this system debuts in a new watch named: The Omega Speedmaster Super Racing. It is a modern iteration of the classic Speedmaster chronograph, but with super mechanics. It is a sporty and stylish watch that is designed for those who love racing and want a timepiece that can keep up with their fast-paced lifestyle.

It has a bold and distinctive look, with a 44.25mm diameter case that is made of steel. It also has 14.9mm height, 50mm lug-to-lug and a 21mm lug width. The bezel features a tachymeter scale in new yellow “grand feu” enamel, which is a hallmark of the Speedmaster collection and allows for measuring speed or distance based on time. The dial is available in black and patterned colors, and has a racing-inspired design with three sub-dials, a date window, and applied hour markers.

With a water resistance of 50 meters, it has the caliber movement of Omega Co-Axial Master Chronometer 9920 and a power reserve of 60 hours. Also, it comes with a stylish black NATO with yellow accents on the dial.
