The Very First Digital Hybrid Tuna Reissued, Seiko Solar SNJ025 “Arnie”

The Seiko Solar SNJ025P1 “Arnie”, was another surprising re-issue model that was introduced earlier this year at Baselworld 2019. The SNJ025P1 Digi Arnie was conceived from the original classic Seiko H558, which was initially released back in 1982.

The Solar Hybrid Arnie was not only considered the world’s first hybrid divers watch , but it was known for being worn by one of the most famous body building legend, Arnold Schwarzenegger, that’s where the nick name “Arnie” came from, which he wore in various 80’s classic action movies like “Commando” and “Predator”.

Another noticeable differences between the Hybrid Arnie and the original H558, are the two crowns on the left side of the watch case at 8 &10 o’clock positions. The top crown at the 10 o’clock position when pressed down provides an indigo light for about 3 seconds. For the crown at the 8 o’clock position, its where you can choose the various option settings the Solar Hybrid has to offer ie: chronograph, alarm, calendar, as well as dual-time. Last but not least, the famous Prospex “X” and “Solar” are shown at lower center of the dial.

The new Seiko Solar Arnie divers are available in three different color models/options.

1. SNJ025P1 Black Dial
2. SNJ027P1 PADI Red & Blue Dial
3. SNJ028P1 Gold Dial

The price tag for the Solar Hybrid Arnie is roughly at about 500.00 USD. We were lucky enough to get our hands on the three models even though they were supposed to release sometime in September.

We are used to seeing models like this, or re-releases of classics come in at huge prices closer to the thousands.
